So much to do nearby
The “Weisses Rössl” hotel, which itself has a long and rich history, is surrounded by the traces of an impressive past. The municipality of Eppan is home to some 180 fortresses, castles and fine residences, the largest number of any region in Europe. Proof indeed that our ancestors could not resist the charms of this landscape.
A 3,000-year old tradition of wine-growing, 1,100 hectares of vineyards (the largest wine-producing area in South Tyrol) and the mild climate mean that over twenty different wine varieties are made in Eppan, something to raise the spirits of every wine lover. The local cellar masters, who number among the best at their craft, are usually happy to let visitors watch them at work, with weekly invitations to wine seminars and tastings in the surrounding wine cellars. Many of these can be easily reached from our hotel on foot. Finally, the nature reserve around Montiggl is a true gem, with its wonderful woodlands and its two romantic bathing lakes, loved by locals and visitors alike, perfect for passing a relaxing few hours.
Just a few minutes’ drive from Eppan lies the famous Lake Kaltern, as well as the regional capital Bozen with its numerous shopping opportunities and its archaeology museum, now the resting place of Ötzi, “the man from the ice”, and the spa city of Meran with its new Therme (hot baths) and the unique gardens of Trauttmannsdorf Castle. There is in short plenty for you to see and do here.
